Hello! I am a former Headteacher and Senior Leader. I teach German to A Level ,French to GCSE and English as a Foreign Language and Business English. I have been teaching for 25 years and am familiar and experienced with all major exam boards. I enjoy teaching students of all abilities, as I firmly believe that anybody can learn a language - it just sometimes takes a little bit of extra practice! I also believe that because I had to learn the languages I teach myself, that I understand the challenges of learning a language and am familiar with the areas that students can sometimes struggle with. 25 years of teaching have provided me with a “Mary Poppins bag of tricks” and a huge variety of teaching strategies to ensure that all can learn and make progress – as well as enjoying themselves. I am an enthusiastic, passionate teacher – who will always go the extra mile for the benefit of my students.
My main focus is on ensuring that my students have a sound understanding of "how" the language is put together so that they are then confident to be able to manipulate the language themselves. I have extensive experience of preparing students for the speaking examination, where pronunciation and fluency are extremely important and believe that I am able to instil confidence in my students in all areas of their learning.
I am highly experienced in the use of Zoom, and other sharing platforms, to deliver lessons online, ensuring that the lessons are full of challenge, with a good variety of activities and resources to maintain interest and keep the lessons alive. The critical thing is to ensure that learning and communication is taking place - whilst delivering stimulating and interactive lessons.
