I am passionate about teaching disadvantaged children and adults who have been left behind in education, which is why I am currently volunteering with Action Tutoring, where I tutor English online to Year 6 children who need support in that area. I have learnt many things, including how to engage and cater for children of different levels in the same lesson, how to manage behavioural issues, and manage the challenges presented by teaching online. I feel more strongly than ever that every student deserves the same chances in education, and this pandemic has exacerbated the divisions between those who have the resources and support, and those that do not.
