I am a Masters’ student at university college London (UCL), studying molecular genetics. My first degree was from Middlesex university where I graduated in Molecular Biology and Chemistry. I have lately been working as a tutor for 2 different employers, one of which happened to be also working with social children welfare teams. So, apart from working as merely a teacher of Science, I also have experience working with not just biologically special children, but also with parentally neglected children or those who have been a victim of some sort of domestic abuse. Both the experience had been massively positive for me and empowered me with a certain type of skillset which will remain with me for a while and will come in handy throughout my career wherever I am required to teach.
I have got experience in both, one-to-one sessions and delivering class-style lectures to levels between KS3 and KS5. On top of this I have also been an active staff member at both the sites when it comes to establishing healthy professional relationships with the parents of the teachers and organizing activities such as parents evening and other co-curriculars.
Apart from working as a tutor in London I have also been a science communicator in Pakistan, my home country. I worked with Science fuse, a non-profit organization to work for dissemination of scientific culture in Pakistan’s primary school-system. Coming from a country like Pakistan, I have always felt that making efforts to normalize science in academic culture is an obligation and to fulfil that sense of being obliged to do it I joined science fuse as a public communicator and went on to become a part of their curriculum designing team later on.
Throughout my years of education, I have also done a few other part-time jobs to support myself such as being with a retail company and working as web-content developer for an IT company. Having worked at various places in various roles I have got the professional versatility that is needed to adjust and thrive in almost about any professional setting. Having said this, if you consider me for this role as a tutor, I am sure I will get the best out in me and will hence benefit your academic centre as well.
